In 1883 Taku glacier was named Schultze Glacier in honor of Northwest Trading Company President Paul Schulze. In 1890 the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey renamed it after Ohio Governor Charles Foster, who was President Harrison’s Secretary of the Treasury. Neither of those names are used today, although they may be found on vintage maps.
